Cloud & Connectivity
RND builds the cloud and connectivity layer for regulated instruments, medical device data systems, high-throughput telemetry, and remote access, engineered for scale and for the record. We took Holter processing from hours to under ten minutes, and we run a cloud platform feeding a daily infectious-disease data feed to the CDC.

Cloud, built for regulated instruments
Cloud software for an instrument carries obligations a consumer app never faces. The data is regulated, the uptime is clinical, and the record has to survive an audit. RND builds cloud and connectivity for medical devices, from the ingest pipeline to the remote-access layer, with the scale a fleet of instruments demands and the traceability a submission requires.
What we build
- Medical device data systems (MDDS) as cloud-resident applications.
- High-throughput telemetry ingest, microservices and containerized processing built to scale.
- Remote diagnostics and access, status, results, and service tooling, with authentication and audit trails.
- Data pipelines, moving instrument data quickly, securely, and verifiably.
How is security built into connected device software?
The old version of this page was half cybersecurity. We split it out, because securing a connected diagnostic is a dedicated body of work, threat modeling the LIS and service interfaces, an SBOM with support status, and the FDA Section 524B obligations that now gate clearance. If your device connects, that work is real, and it has its own home: cybersecurity for connected diagnostics.

One partner, end to end
Software built alongside the instrument.
RND writes and verifies the software. Gener8 designs and manufactures the instrument, cartridges, and consumables around it, mechanical, electronics, optics, and microfluidics, under one roof. Software, device, and disposables from a single partner.

- What is an MDDS, and do you build them?
- A Medical Device Data System transfers, stores, converts, or displays medical device data without controlling or altering the device's function. Yes, we build them as cloud-resident applications, including the pipelines that move instrument data reliably and the records that keep it auditable.
- Can you handle high-throughput instrument telemetry?
- Yes. We build for scale with microservices and containerization, one of our cloud pipelines processes 30,000+ files per day and over a million patient records per year, and cut a Holter analysis workflow from more than four hours to under ten minutes.
- How do you handle security for regulated data in the cloud?
- Encryption, secure authentication, and HIPAA-aligned handling are table stakes. But cloud security for a cyber device is its own discipline, threat modeling, SBOM, and FDA Section 524B obligations, so we treat it as a dedicated workstream. See our [cybersecurity services](/cybersecurity).
- Do you support remote diagnostics and remote access?
- Yes. We build the path for field engineers and lab staff to review status, results, and diagnostics remotely, with the authentication, audit trail, and access controls a regulated instrument requires.
